The Concept of Ambuluwawa Bio-diversity Complex
A journey to Ambuluwawa once made by present Prime Minister, with a team of six gave birth to the idea in his mind that this eye-catching mountainous area of Ambuluwawa should be designated as a reservation area and an access road leading to the top should be constructed.

Creatures

Ambuluwawa is a paradise to thousands of scant species endemic to Sri Lanka. Horned lizard is a species endemic to Ambuluwawa. Different species of monkey, wild bores, deer, Indian mouse deer, musk rats, rabbits, and porcupines are found in abundance. Kinds of reptiles that are facing extinction and different species of serpents are found in Ambuluwawa. The snake, viper and python are some of them. Migrant birds and different species of parrots and mynah endemic to Sri Lanka are frequenting in this area.

Plants

Rare medicinal herbs such as Iraraja, Wanaraja, edible fruits such as nelli, sour guava, keena, etamba (a very small variety of mango) wild bread fruit and many other herbs and a kind of a thorny cane bring life and beauty to Ambuluwawa.
